I’m Dale—a MarCom maven, lover of schools, and dogged supporter of the students, faculty, and staff that make them tick.
For 13 years, I worked at The Pingry School, a K-12 independent, co-educational day school in northern New Jersey. While I began in the Athletics Office (I earned my undergraduate degree in Health and Exercise Science from Wake Forest University), I quickly moved on to the Admission Office, serving as an Assistant Director of Admission and Director of Financial Aid. Then, I became the school’s Director of Strategic Communications and Marketing, all while continuing to serve as an Upper School Advisor, one of my favorite parts of being a member of a school community.
My expertise is rooted in providing comprehensive communications vision, strategy, and execution—as well as day-to-day, detailed support—for more than 30 departments, 350 employees, 7,000 alumni, and 1,100 students and their families between two campuses. And I delight in drawing upon best practices from the business world—thanks to my MBA—to solve the unique challenges of an educational environment.
Coordinating all aspects of the school’s marketing and communication efforts, and wearing so many hats over the years, I learned a great deal about how schools work—what they need to operate well, what can trip them up, and the solutions that can help.
Reading: nonfiction during the day, fiction at night
The beach
Strolling (not power walking), especially with my Bernedoodle pup
Tech boundaries—I intentionally fight an addiction to my phone
Bubbles: Seltzer and prosecco
Editing—for better or worse, I edit everything I read
Trader Joe’s; ask me my favorite item and reserve 10 minutes for my answer!
Singing and Dancing (from musical theater in 5th grade to present day at my kids’ annual church camp)
Gazing at lakes; I’m spoiled to live by 6 of them!
Kids—I love the 2 that are mine, and also your students, present and future!
Swimming in lakes (mainly a triathlon problem)
Grammatical mistakes
Being cold (both as a temperature and as a mood)
“Usage” instead of “use”—ever since sophomore English with Mrs. Jenkins
Olives and anchovies
Inauthentic marketing—actually, inauthenticity as a whole!
Just a few examples of the schools and institutions I’ve had the pleasure of partnering with
